Blossomtime with The Big Apple – Sunday 1st and Monday 2nd May 2016

BigAppleLogoCome and celebrate the new season’s blossom in and around the beautiful village of Putley in Herefordshire! The Big Apple will be welcoming visitors to enjoy their annual bank holiday extravaganza of blossom- and orchard-related events.

Blossomtime crafts for children, guided orchard walks, apple teas and delicious lunches are just some of the things on offer … as well as a village hall full of cider, perry and apple juice waiting to be tasted of course!  Outside there will be fruity activities, music from Fiddlers Two and dancing from Leominster Morris.  Putley Village Hall will be open for the Grand Cider Tasting and Teas from 2pm–6pm on Sunday 1st May and from 12–5pm on Monday the 2nd.   The full programme at http://www.bigapple.org.uk/blossomtime-2016 gives information on all the events and venues involved in this fantastic celebration of apples.

Not to miss, Rich Mathews from Rural Media will be talking about ‘Golden Fire’ – an exciting digital arts project all about Herefordshire’s cider heritage from 1945 to the present day. An app is being developed to share this newly digitised archive of photography, oral histories and online content which will guide visitors and locals alike around the county’s cider festivals and growers, telling the rich contemporary and vivid story of the people, past and present, who make and ferment the ‘golden fire’.   The talk will take place at Putley Village Hall at 6.30pm on Sunday 1st May and entry will be free.
