I have given you a fish recipe this month as it includes courgettes which are very much in season and with this hot weather fish seems a lighter option. I hope you enjoy it. There are no tips really but if you do not wish to buy the saffron (as I know it is expensive) it will not ruin the recipe. Continue reading “July Recipe: Salmon with Courgettes, Peppers and Raisins”
Ledbury sizzles with local food, drink, poetry, music, dance and heritage
Ledbury marked the last day of the Ledbury Poetry Festival on Sunday 8th July with a special sizzling and very well attended High Street festival.
Locals and visitors joined in the hot summer sun to enjoy a street market of local food and drink supplied by 30 local producers and organised by Ledbury Food Group celebrating our unique local food offerings. Al fresco eating was on offer but with the hot sun many favoured the shade areas provided by the Nest and Dragon Orchard. The local ice cream was especially popular, and other stall holders sold out. Local Grower Minimises Single-Use Plastics
If we look to our local food growers, they are doing their best to provide their high quality produce in sustainable packaging, and not use single-use plastic – not always an easy ask as John Davenport explains.
At Flights Orchard Farm and through The Little Marcle Farm Shop, John tries to minimise the use of single-use plastic for his organic produce.
John says “If we don’t need to pack anything, we don’t! At the shop customers choose their organic fruit and vegetables, pay for it, and take it home in their own bags. Continue reading “Local Grower Minimises Single-Use Plastics”
Ledbury ready to celebrate Ledbury Celebration
Ledbury’s annual “town party” – the Ledbury Celebration – takes to Ledbury High Street again on Sunday 8th July.

How Can We Reduce Single Use Plastic in Ledbury?
Ledbury may not be on the coast, but it does have fantastic countryside which suffers from plastic waste in our parks, on the hills and country lanes.
We live in a disposable society, but that doesn’t mean that we should continue to use single use plastics that take several hundred to thousands of years to decompose Vs biodegradable bags or corn-starch take away containers that can take between 3 and 6 months decompose. June Recipe: Strawberry and Almond Crumble
I hope you all like this month’s recipe. I have made it for a number of dinner parties and it has received rave reviews. I have served it with both vanilla ice cream and custard, some folk have had both! You could, of course, use cream!
You can actually do this recipe before June when the somewhat tasteless strawberries come in as it seems to add depth and flavour to them. Continue reading “June Recipe: Strawberry and Almond Crumble”
